It is still the New Year so let's look at the stressors in our lives and take control of them. Our minds are powerful and if we don't take control of the mental games & patterns going on in our heads..... our stress levels will only increase.  H

Here is a great free online meditation site. It has been studied many times over that practicing stress-management techniques, like regular exercise & meditation is good for our minds, body & souls! Many runners struggle with a limited range of motion, shortened muscles, weakened muscles due to overuse or injury and a less than efficient mental focus and breathing technique. These limitations on their own or combined can cause muscle imbalances, lead to injury, a higher rate of physical / systemic exhaustion and hence, a longer recovery time. Quite simply making your run not as enjoyable or efficient.

 

My drop-in pay as you go Yoga for Runners class introduces runners to the basics of yoga and how it relates to the mechanics of running. This Yoga for Runners will be lead by Carolynn Younghusband a runner for 29 years, a Registered Massage Therapist and Registered Yoga Teacher.  It takes a runner’s approach to address your runner's needs.

The benefits of a  runners' focused yoga  are plentiful — yoga can correct muscle imbalances and add to core strength, along with improving posture, helping with recovery, fascial releasing/stretching, improving joint mobility, increased circulation and flow of synovial fluid within the joints , breathing techniques (assists in the mental focus).  Mental focus is also key for distance runners.  Yoga has a meditative and breathe components
